Giro Day Elven: Calling the Team Car

This is the back of the Maglia Rosa Group cresting a small lump in between the two big category climbs of the day.  While the cyclist all have radios, the tradition of raising one's arm to call for your team car carries on.  One reason for this tradition continuing is to let the race referees know to let the riders car out of its required order so it can come up to its rider.  The other long standing tradition in this painting is the painting of the road, both the informal writings of the tifosi or the mechanized chalk spraying of promotional sayings.  All add to the festival that surrounds the Giro through the 21 days of racing.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard and like all of the works in this series has been created using cake watercolors, brushed and papers from www.richesonart.com   This painting can be yours by visiting my artist web site.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post, but hurry you don't want someone else to buy your painting.
