Tour Stage Four: The Long Blue Line

Team Sky's kit has this blue stripe down the helmet and onto the back of the jersey, so when the whole team is in a tight time trial formation, they create this long blue line.  Here they are going through a gentle S curve as they tear through the streets of Nice, France, back on the mainland of the country from Corsica.  Geraint Thomas, at the end of the line, is racing with a hairline fracture in his pelvis.  It is mind boggling to me that the desire to stay in the race and be part of the team can over ride what must be horrific pain and his mother's request that he drop out of the race.  It is that kind of single minded focus that enable these athletes do race at the highest level.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours by visiting my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.
