Giro Stage 8: Everyone that Matters

The old saying, "The cream rises to the top" was certainly true on the ascent to Campitello Matese today.  Fabio Aru (Astana) was the first to launch an attack on the Magila Rosa, and attack that everyone who matter had to counter.  Although it didn't seem that anyone was able to actually counter the attack, at best they could only cover the move.  As the young Italian in the Maglia Blanco went up the road, anyone with a hope of holding the Magila Rosa in Milan had no choice but to follow his wheel.  So it was that Alberto Contador (Astana), Richie Porte (Sky) and Rigoberto Uran (Etixx Quickstep) jumped onto the fleeing wheel of Aru.  Aru and Astana had the advantage of numbers and it was Mikel Landa (Astana) that launched the next attack.  Fortunately for Landa, the GC contenders weren't interested in chasing him down.

This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from Jack Richeson and Company, www.richesonart.com.  They are a lovely small family run art supply company that has some of my favorite media.  The painting is also available for purchase through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  But don't delay, these are original one of a kind paintings and when it is gone, it is gone.
