Bergen 2017, Elite Men's ITT: Looking Solid

The winner of this year's Giro d'Italia, Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands) went into today as the pre race favorite.  Dumoulin is both excellent against the clock and a strong climber, so today's course should suit him very well.  On what can only be described as the flatter section of the course he was posting new best times, more important, he had started after his main competitor, Chris Froome (Great Britian).  Dumoulin was able to carry his advantage up the Mount Floyen climb, taking the win by almost a minute.  He will be wearing the rainbow jersey every time he races an individual time trial for the next year.  When asked if he would have a big celebration tonight, he said, "I have to focus on the road race now."  Apparently, he wants to only wear the rainbow stripes whenever he races.

For those of you counting, that means that the Dutch have won both the Elite Men's and the Elite Women's ITT.

This is a small watercolors and ink painting measuring just 4"x6" and was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com.  This painting and all of my Olympics artwork will be available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  It is only $75 USD and international shipping is available.
