Tour Stage 8: Putting Time into the Rest

Capitalizing on all of the hard pace setting his teammates had put in, Alberto Contador (Tinkoff Saxo) jumped on his pedals, putting in one of his signature accelerations.  He got a gap on all of the GC men that were still in the group, but he couldn't shake the one man he really needed to gain time on.  Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) claimed that it was not his goal to hold the Maillot Jaune, he still wasn't going to let Contador ride away from him.  While Nibali may want to spare his team working so hard to protect the Golden Fleece, he was in no mood to let such a strong contender as Contador get a leg up in the race for Yellow.  The pair got rid of GC hopefuls and stage hopefuls alike perhaps trying to make the statement that they and their teams were up for the task of carrying the Maillot Jaune onto the Champs Elysees in Paris in just over two weeks time.  This is an original small watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.om.  This painting is yet another work that will be included in my soon to be self published book of the 2014 Tour de France, the "Book de Tour".  To learn more about the book project, to pre order your copy, and to find out how you can be a part of bringing this Tour to print, please visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1335072134/book-de-tour  There are some great incentives to motivate you to become a backer with only $25 USD getting you a signed copy of the book, plenty of other levels with one option including both a signed book and one of the original paintings that will be included in this pictorial story of the Tour.  To purchase this particular painting (only) just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
