Pierre Rolland followed up a great Stage Two with a solid performance on the final climb of the day. Just when it looked like Simon Clarke of Orica-GreenEdge was about to take over the lead in the King of the Mountain competition, Rolland came out of the peloton escorted by a teammate to earn the five points on offer, doubling his lead in his quest for the Polka Dot jersey in Paris. With just 7 miles to go to the finish, Pierre stormed down the mountain in hopes of the first stage win for the French.
