Every stage of the Tour starts with a bit of a neutral ride out. All of the riders will gather around the referees car waiting for him to lower the "Depart" flag that means it is time to start racing. The race organization will have the wearers of the leaders jerseys line up together with the winner of the previous stage so that everyone in town will get a chance to see them all. Notice that the referee is standing up through the sun roof so that he can see that everything is in order. Today started with Marcel Kittel in Green, Bakelants in Yellow and Rolland in the Polka Dots from head to toe. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard created using cake watercolors, brushes and paper from www.richesonart.com In addition, this work is available at my artist website, just follow the direct link at the end of this post. But act quickly, you wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to have a piece of the 100th Tour de France.
