Having driven the pace for her teammates on the first lap of La Course, Dmma Cecilie Norsgaard (Equipe Paula Ka) let the peloton slip away before the second climb of the Cote de Rimiez. On her wheel was Maaike Boogaard (Ale BTC Ljubljana) whom I met when she was a Junior at the World Championships back in 2015. She was the first of a formidable Dutch team that was intrique with the live paintings I was doing at the races that year in Richmond, VA. It is very exciting to see her in La Course racing with a professional cycling contract. I feel so proud, not that I have had anything to do with her success. Still, it is cool to have met someone who is now racing on the international stage.
