Tour de France Femmes 23, Stage 3, Still with a Chance

With just another three kilometers to race and the peloton thirty-two seconds back Julie Van De Velde (Fenix-Deceuninck) had a chance she might just get to the line first.  It is rare that the peloton full of sprinters let an opportunity for a mass sprint escape them, but Van De Velde was doing all she could to make that happen.  She had already claimed the right to be the one to start Stage 4 in the Maillot a Pois of best climber in the Tour de France Femmes (from her teammate), could she possibly also get the first stage win for her team?

Tour, Stage 13: Where's Peter?

As they rode under the three kilometers to go banner, Marcus Burghardt (Bora-Hansgrohe) look back over his shoulder for his sprinter, Peter Sagan.  All he could see was the Trek-Segafredo train being lead by the former King of the Mountians, Toms Skujins.  Behind were the Maillot Jaune, riders from EF Education First, but Sagan was no where to be seen.

Giro, Stage 4: A Huge Effort

Jan Polanc (UAE Team Emirates) was the sole survivor from the early break of the day.  With just three kilometers left to race, he had over a minute and a half on the remnants of the peloton.  It would be touch and go, but it was looking like this would be one of those rare times that the break away succeed.  Spoiler alert, he did take the stage by a whole ten seconds over the closest chaser.  He was too far down on GC to take over the Maglia Rosa, but I think the stage victory was his target.  He now as one two stages of the Giro in his career.

Tour Stage Six: Multiple Trains at 3 K

Just 3 kilometers left to race and the sprinter's teams are all fighting to get their lead out trains together.  Argos-Shimano on the left for Marcel Kittel, and Omega Pharma, Lotto and Sky for their respective hopefuls.  Oddly missing from the scene is Team Cannondale for Sagan, the team does seem to have a great knack for hiding from the wind until the last possible moment.  And at that moment he is very good a bouncing.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that is available through my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your very own piece of the 100th Tour de France.
