The Latvian rider, Aleksejs Saramotins, sprinted as hard as he could in a desperate attempt to gain the top seat in the waiting area. He came up 55 seconds short of the leader's time, but it was still enough to slide him into the current second place. A placing that slowly slipped away as the big names of the sport began to arrive at the finish line. Ultimately he dropped all of the way down to 39th overall.
This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com. In addition this painting is available along with two different sizes of prints in the Richmond Convention Center just a block away from the finish line of every race of the UCI World Road Racing Championships. Just come look for me directly across from the awards podium. Plus you can find a live stream of my painting the works at www.richmond.com were the paintings will soon be available for purchase.

Ruta del Sol Stage 3: Please Hurry
Sorry, I am having technical difficulties and can't load the image, hopefully later. In the mean time, you can see the artwork at my website, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
There is never a good time to have a flat tire, all the more so when you have been out in a good size break away for the lion share of a long stage. So it was for Aleksejs Saramotins (IAM Cycling) as he patiently waited for the team mechanic to change is front wheel. Notice that he his helping his man out by holding the bike just high enough to make the wheel swap go as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, it wasn't fast enough to enable Saramotins to rejoin the break away.
This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com. To purchase this particular painting just follow the direct link at the end of this post. And yes, international shipping is available.

Paris-Nice Stage 2: Staying Off the Front
Another stage and another break away made up of the invitational teams. Aleksejs Saramotins (IAM Cycling) and Anthony Delaplace (Team Bretagne) got away from the peloton with just 2 1/2 kilometers covered. Delaplace was the first to surrender but the stronger Saramotins managed to hold off the rest of riders until less than 10 kilometers left to cover. He is trying to make himself as aerodynamic as possible having slid forward off of the saddle and nearly resting his chin on the handlebars. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that could be yours by visiting my artist website, www.greigleach.com or you could just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
