Wollongong 2022, Mixed Team Relay: Starting with an Advantage

Having been given the green light to start their leg of the Mixed Team Relay, the French women started the course with a three second advantage over the time of the Australian women.  That was due to the great ride by their male counterparts in the opening leg of this team event.  Aude Biannic roled to the front first was Coralie Demay and Juliette Labous fell in behind in the opening meters of their part of the 28 kilometer relay.  The trio slipped against the Australian women ultimately finishing the day in seventh when all was said and done.

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The painting was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.Richesonart.com. The work sells for $90 USD including shipping, and yes, international shipping is available.

If you can't afford to purchase a piece you could always help keep me going by buying me a cup of coffee at buymeacoffee.com/greigsartc.  And check out my vlogs at my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLGX-TnjXDSkkOidUE6pN1g

Flanders 2021: Off on Her Own

It was intriguing trying to figure how who was allowed to go up the road and who was chased down as soon as the tried a move.  Clearly, if you are wearing orange you will be chased down.  Aude Biannic  (France) got away on a small rise while on the streets of Leuven.  At 30 kilometers to go, it was a tall order to hold of the elite of women’s cycling all of whom wanted to spend the next year in the Rainbow Jersey of World Champion.  As you can tell by the volunteer waving the yellow pennant, the rest of their peloton was just down the hill out of sight.

Richmond 2015 UCI Worlds: The Final Kilometer

Aude Biannic (France) pushes as hard as she can up the false flat towards the end of her effort.  As she swung off of the short brutal climb within the last kilometer she had to be thinking that was the end of the climbing, but the course rises all the way to the line.  That fact has dashed the hopes of a number of riders that felt like that were in with a chance when that turned onto the final approach.  I was proud to see how many of my fellow Richmonders were out lining nearly every kilometer of the course cheering riders from around the world.

This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com.  What is unusual about this race for me is that I am painting it live at the Fanfest area, sitting directly across form the podium and the hot seats where the well placed finishers await the final verdict of the clock.  You can come watch me paint there, or watch it on a live stream at www.richmond.com.  The works are available as originals or two different size prints at Fanfest, or later at www.richmond.com.
