Giro, Final Stage, Curtain Call

All put one rider of Team Sky joined arms as they rode throught Roma in celebration of a quite historic win.  Missing was Vasil Kiryienka who pulled out two days ago.  Those who got to take the bow with their pink handlebar tape flashing (Froome has a brilliant pink bike instead) where, Chris Froome, Kenny Elissonde, David de la Cruz, Sergio Henao, Christian Knees, Wout Poels and Salvatore Puccio.  Earlier the announcers were claiming that Froome was the first rider to hold all three grand tour jersey at once.  While that isn't correct, he is now just one of three to accomplish that feat.  Miguel Indurain achieved that remarkable task and the great Eddy Merckx went on better, winning four consecutive grand tours.  Froome will be starting the Tour, so he could equal Merckx this July.

Giro, Stage 2: Water Boy

At first it looked like Christian Knees (Sky) was going on an attack to join the lone rider up the road.  Instead, with just 26 kilometer to race, he was trying to get across the peloton to grab bags of water bottles from his soigneur.  Having communicated his intentions to Remi Cavagna (Quick Step Floors), he was allowed to get ahead of the group, before sliding back down the peloton passing out bidons to his teammates.  I like that Team Sky uses brilliant yellow bags (not a team color) to help their guys find the soigneurs along the road.

Paris Roubaix: Gaining Position

The roads of Paris Roubaix include 28 sections of cobblestones, but most are also very narrow, making it hard to move up towards the front of the peloton.  This makes gaining and holding your position very important.  Team Sky has shown itself to be very adapt at controlling things at the front of a race and at times were up to the task at hand.  Here it is Christian Knees, Simon Geraints and Sir Bradley Wiggins holding the position in the strong cross winds of northern France.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that could be yours by being the first to visit my artist website at www.greigleach.com or you could just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  These original works are only $50 USD including shipping.
