Tour Stage Twelve: Going Straight Through

A break away forms in every stage, well almost, and today was no exception.  This group of five got away at the drop of the starting flag and set about building up their advantage to eight minutes, before the peloton decided that that was far enough.  Juan Antonio Flecha managed to get himself into yet another break, riding off in hopes of repeating is only other stage win in 2003.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that is available for purchase at my artist website.  Just follow the direct link to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.

Tour Stage Five: As Quick as Possible

The dreaded flat tire (or other mechanical misfortune) can erase any riders advantage he has worked so hard to gain on the road.  Sicard was in the break of the day when he flated his rear tire and was forced to chase back up to the group he had so recently been amongst.  As often happens, as soon as he got back on, one of the others attacked and Sicard was unable to match the acceleration having just spent so much energy catching the others.  The flat is fixed by a wheel change by the mechanic who has jumped out of the team car when the rider stops at the side of the road.  Usually the cyclist will get off the bike and hold it up in the air to ease the mechanics job (and to make the change as fast as possible).  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours through a quick visit to my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.

Tour Stage Five: On the Climb

Six guys got away on a break today although you can't see De Gendt in this painting, he was too busy sucking up all of the prizes and points along the stage.  The break also includes Arashia the Japanese National Champion riding for the French team Europcar, who managed to but two into the day's break.  The others included Reza of Europcar, Sicard of Euskadtel Euskadi, Lutsenko of Astana (the second youngest rider in the Tour) and Delaplace of Sojasun (one of the invitational French teams).  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that like the rest of the works of the Tour was created using cake watercolors, brushes and paper from www.richesonart.com.  In addition, this work is available at my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your own piece of the 100th Tour de France.
