The Australian riders in the Tour Down Under have now won three out of the four stages and have been the only racers to wear the Ochre Jersey of race leader. Today it was Steele Von Hoff (UniSA-Australia) who was able to raise his arms in victory, taking the stage ahead of Daryl Impey (Orica-GreenEdge) and Wooter Wippert (Drapac). Incidently, the top three finishers all ride for Australian teams, so it really has been a Tour for the local boys!

Tour Down Under Stage 2: Giving Chase
The peloton wasn't about to make the same mistake twice, so stage 2 they were a little more eager to chase down the break away. Steele Von Hoff of UniSA-Australia joined Roger Kluge (IAM Cycling) along with the boys from Team Sky in the long hard task of pulling bacl the trio up the road. Von Hoff was on the front representing the team holding the leader's Ochre Jersey, but rather having the whole team do the chase, they left it to others to make sure those up the road didn't gain too much time. This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.jackricheson.com. They are a family run art supply company in the state of Wisconsin, USA. This painting is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com. Tour Down Under: Showing the Home Colors, Stage One
Wearing the Australian National Champion Jersey that he had won just two weeks earlier, Simon Gerrans takes the sprint ahead of the powerful Andre Greipel (Lotto) and Steele Van Hoff (Garmin) with Diego Ulissi (Lampre) pulling fourth in the finale of the first stage of the Tour Down Under. I think the Gerrans surprised even himself by getting around Greipel who had a great lead out and the early jump. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that you could call your own by visiting my artist website at www.greigleach.com or you could follow the direct link at the end of this post.

Tour of Britain Stage 4: One at Home
Mark Cavendish managed to stay with the peloton on the final climb just 16 kilometers from the end of the stage and that put him in a position to win his first stage at this year's Tour of Britain and his ninth ToB win in his career. He had the added pleasure of taking a stage in the Tour wearing the Champion jersey of Great Britain, always a nice touch to win in the home colors. He had just enough to hold off the charging Elia Viviani, winner of the first stage of the race who is carry the flag for Team Cannondale while Peter Sagan is racing in Canada. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours by visiting my artist website. Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 2013 Tour of Britain. While you are there why not look at all of my paintings from the Giro d'Italia, Criterium du Dauphine, Tour de France, and the US Pro Challenge?
