Tour, Stage 16: Still Ahead

The five man break was still of the front with just over five kilometers to the line in Nimes.  Alexis Gougeard (Ag2r La Mondiale) wasn't about to stop driving the pace, even if the peloton was literally just around the corner.  Lukasz Wisniowski (CCC), Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis) and Paul Ourselin (Total Direct Energie) were willing to help with the effort but it was clearly doomed.  Still nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Tour, Stage 11: We Did Out Best

Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis) reaches out to thank Lilian Calmejane (Total Direct Energie) for the effort in the early break.  Behind the peloton is closing in on the duo in preperation for the sprint finale in Toulouse.  With just seven kilometers left to ride, there is still on member of the erstwhile break up the road hoping to spoil the sprinters' day.

Tour, Stage 11: Quick Repair

Another stage, another break away trying to test the will of the peloton.  With just this stage and the stage into Paris left for the pure sprinters, it was unlikely this foursome of Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis), Aime De Gendt (Wanty Gobert), Anthony Perez (Cofidis) and Lilian Calmejane (Total Direct Energie) were going to be given much of an advantage.  They weren't. 

Since the Tour is decided on total elapsed time, riders avoid stopping for most anything.  So, when there is a bike problem, they will ride beside the team car as their mechanic hangs out the rear window trying to fix the problem on the fly.  With any luck there are no unexpected bumps, debris nor road hazards.  I have seen this move go rather badly in the past.

Tour, Stage 7: Points Along the Way

Unlike yesterday, the break away was only two men both of whom have been off the front before today.  With a mass sprint expected at the end of the day, Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis) and Yoann Offredo (Wanty-Gobert) were allowed to go from kilometer one.  With so few points on offer towards the Maillot a Pois there was not much for the peloton to worry about.  All that was necessary was to make sure they were back in the fold before the final sprint in Chalon sur Saone.

Tour, Stage 3: Celebrating the Attempt

The early break away was inevitably caught with about thirty kilometers left in the stage.  Yoann Offredo (Wanty-Gobert) made it a point to fist bump all of his break away companions (minus the one still up the road, Tim Wellens - Lotto Soudal).  As Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis) looked back after his fist bump Paul Ourselin reached out his fist in turn.  Behind him, Anthony Delaplace (Arkea Samsic) would just have time for the celebratory gesture before they were all caught by the fast closing peloton.

Tour, Stage 3: Leading into France

While the race is called the Tour de France, it fequently dips into other countries, or starts somewhere other than inside the French borders.  This year the race spent two days in the adjoining Belgium, but today the race crossed the border into France.  The stage was marked by an early break away of five, three of them were, Paul Ourselin (Direct Energie), Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) and Stephane Rosetto (Cofidis).  There have been two break aways in the two road stages thus far in the Tour, Rosetto has been in both of them.  He is wearing the red bib number in honor of his most aggressive rider from Stage 1.

Tour, Stage 1: Making the Most of His Debut

This painting was the runner up for Bridget's Favorite honors.  This is Stephane Rosetto's (Cofidis) first appearance in the Tour of his home country.  With just over twenty kilometers to race back to Brussels, the Frenchman decided to try the long solo run to the line.  He just took second in his national time trial championships, so he certainly has the legs for the effort, but again, the sprinters really want to fight it out for glory, stage and the Maillot Jaune at the end of the day.  Rosetto did earn himself the title of most combative rider for the stage, and will have the honor of wearing a red race number for stage 2 of the Tour.

Vuelta, Stage 18: "I Should Do What?"

"I should do what?" seemed to be the question that Jeremy Maison (FDJ) was yelling back to his team director as the break started up the Collada de Ozalba.  Maison had just attack the group on the way down the previous climb and I imagine he was a bit gassed from the effort.  With everyone bac on, it seemed a bit much to be planning another attack.  Just ahead of the Frenchman were Stephane Rossetto (Cofidis) and Clement Chevrier (Ag2r La Mondiale).  The group still had over 40 kilometers to the top of the final climb of the day, so perhaps now was a bit early for another attack.
