Giro, Stage 16: A Drink and a Plan

As the peloton sped through the valley floor, Eros Capecchi (Quickstep) dropped back to his team car for some advice and some fluids.  Quickstep now had a solid lead in the best young rider competition as well as the sprint points competition (not that there will be a lot of action in that one today).  The peloton contained most of the general classification contenders including the Maglia Rosa of Tome Dumoulin (Team Sunweb), with a few rather notable exceptions up the road.  It was looking like it would stack up to a real GC fight when they headed back over the Stelvio.

Giro, Stage 1: Plenty of Time

The peloton had let those up the road get just over seven minutes before they began to reel them back in.  While it seems like a lot of time, this was going to be a day for the sprinters.  A day that will reward the Maglia Rosa to whomever crosses the line first in Olbia on the island of Sardinia.  As they ride along the coast, the time keepers keep them informed of the gap from the back of a motorcycle.  I wonder just how much time the peloton had to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
