Paris Olympics 2024, Men's Road Race: Sprinting in Paris

This might be THE image of these Olympic Games for me.  Either unable to catch his teammate, or unwilling to drag the others up to Valentin Madouas (France), Christophe Laporte (France) was able to sprint away from the chase group under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower to take the Bronze Medal.  His third place meant that the French took the two remaining medals behind the Belgium Remco Evenepoel.  Not a bad finish for the home team in front of one of their most famous landmarks.  And kudos to the cameraman that found this angle for the finale, too bad he couldn't have got there for Evenepoel's finale.

As Evenepoel posed with his bike just across the finish, you could see the TV camera men running down the course to get this shot.  Somebody is in trouble...

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The work sells for $95 USD including shipping, but, yes, international shipping is both available and extra.

Paris Olympics 2024, Men's Road Race: Who Do We Have Now?

Valentin Madouas (France) looks over his shoulder to see who is in this chase group with him.  He finds a dangerous Remco Evenepoel (Belgium) along with Stefan Kung (Suisse), Marco Haller (Austria), and Fred Wright (Great Britain).  The group has built a bit of an advantage over what is left of the main peloton with another 34 kilometers to race through the streets of Paris.  They are still chasing on man, Ben Healy (Ireland) who is still holding them off by about thirty seconds.

Since there won't be another painting of Madouas today, I should tell you that he was able to take the Silver Medal for France, making that the third Silver in this event in the history of these Games.  They have yet to win a Gold Medal.

Tour Final Stage: On His Wheel

As Richie Porte (Team Sky) and the peloton swung up out of the tunnel under the Tuileries and around 'Norwegian Corner' they slide under the one kilometer to go banner (although at this point it is one kilometer to the bell lap) the peloton was just about to get onto the wheel of Porte.  Normally the Flame Rouge or Red Kite wouldn't be hanging until it was one kilometer left to race, but with the speed they were turning the laps, there simply wasn't enough time to hang the kite on the proper lap.  This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  The painting along with all of my artwork of the 101st Tour de France will be included in my soon to be self published tome, "Book de Tour."  To learn more about the book project, to pre order your copy, or to discover how you can be a part of bringing this Tour to print, please visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1335072134/book-de-tour.  There are some fabulous rewards for those who choose to back the book, including artist signed copies, original art, printed postcards and even a few copies signed by Vincenzo Nibali himself.  Everyone who contributes will have their name in print on the Special Thanks page of the book.  To purchase this painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post, but wouldn't you like to have all of the paintings in a book as well?  Sure you would!
