Team Katusha played its cards right on this long flat stage. They managed to stay off of the front of the peloton saving their energy for the last kilometer of the stage. That way they were able to lead the fast Norwegian, Alexander Kristoff, to the final sprint. So it was Kristoff who score the first sprint of the 2015 Paris Nice in the town of Contres. He was followed across the finishing line by two French sprinters, Nacer Bouhani (Cofidis) in second, and Bryan Coquard (Europcar) in third. All three sprinters were far enough behind race leader Michal Kwiatkowski (Etixx-Quickstep) that they did not effect his hold on the Maillot Jaune.
