Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) simply couldn't believe that he had managed to win the stage atop the immortal climb of the Alpe d'Huez! Pinot had chased across the valley floor with Ryder Hesjedal (Cannondale Garmin) and the pair traded attacks on the lower slopes of the Alpine giant. With this win, the French have now been victorious on three stages in the 102nd Tour de France. This was the first win for Pinot's team, FDJ. FDJ has a hope tomorrow with their sprinter Demare still in the race, even after the grueling stages in the French Alps.
This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from Jack Richeson & Company, www.richesonart.com. They are a wonderful small family run art supply company based in the northern mid-west of the United States. This painting is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.
