Paris Olympics 2024, Women's Mountain Biking: Off on Her Own

Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France) wasn't messing around today!  She went off on her own towards the end of the first lap in today's Cross Country race.  I am struck that course was built over a defunct quarry and landfill.  The States could take a page out of this book, it was a beautiful wooded course with rather large old trees.  Pauline rode around all of the race on her own to the thrill of the French fans all along the course.  They chanted "Pauline, Pauline, Pauline!" as she went by.  She did win the Gold Medal in her home Olympics by over three minutes.  Chapeau!

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The work sells for $95 USD including shipping, but, yes, international shipping is both available and extra.

Bergen 2017, Elite Women's Road Race: Forming a New Group

The Dutch women clearly came to Bergen to race (and win).  They were either starting every break away, or chasing one down.  After the first trio of escapees were caught another formed, just to be sure, Jannee Ensing (Netherlands) went with on the attack picking up Hanna Nilsson (Sweden) along the way.  Nilsson had been trying to get to the group ahead for about 10 kilometers and was quite happy to jump onto Ensing's wheel.  Another who had grabbed the Dutch rider's wheel was former World Champion, Pauline Ferrand Prevot (France).  As this group was joing those ahead, it was beginning to look like the peloton might be out of the running today.

This is a small watercolors and ink painting measuring just 4"x6" and was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com.  This painting and all of my Olympics artwork will be available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  It is only $75 USD and international shipping is available.

Rio Olympics: Looking It Over

With the peloton now on the final climb of the day, it was time for the big names to hit the front of the race.  As the women went up, it was the former World Champion, Pauline Ferrand Pevot (France) who raised the pace of the climb.  On her wheel is the reigning Olympic Champion, Marianne Vos (Netherlands).  Joining the powerhouse names are Gracie Elvin (Australia), M. Jasinka (Poland), A Vekemans (Belgium) and Trixi Worrack (Germany).

La Course: Looking for Her Teammates

After yet another crash in the peloton, World Women's Road Racing Champion, Pauline Ferraud Prevot (Rabo-Liv) is looking around for her teammates.  Prevot didn't go down in this crash but she was caught out and was hoping to have some teammates to help pace her back to the business end of affairs.  Riding next to the World Champion is Helen Wyman (Matrix Fitness) who among others, wasn't enjoying the wet conditions nor the cobbles.

This is an original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from Jack Richeson & Company, www.richesonart.com.  In addition, this painting is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting for only $50n USD, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  As this is an original painting, don't hesitate, once it is sold it is gone.

2014 UCI Worlds: Looking Around

It was a reduced peloton that came to the penultimate climb, but all of the favorites were there.  At this point it is Giorgia Bronzini (Italy) on the front, looking around to see that Lisa Brennauer (Germany), Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (France) and Marianne Vos (Netherlands) have all latched onto her wheel.  Even the race director has popped up through the sun roof of the referee's car to get a better view of the start of the action on the bell lap.  This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  While you are there, why not take the time to browse all of the artwork on offer.  International shipping is available.

La Course: Slipping Off the Front

The morning that the Tour de France was to come into Paris to finish on the Champs Elysees, the organizer mounted the first ever Women's Road Cycling event on the fabled cobbles.  La Course brought the best professional women to race 11 laps around the same finishing circuit that would end the 101st Tour de France, the men would only make 8 laps of the circuit.  While TV coverage of the event was not on par with the men's racing, the racing was every bit as fast and as exciting.  This is the French National Road Champion, Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Rabobank) in the break along the gutter of the boulevard with Amy Pieters (Giant Shimano).  Just like the men later in the day, there were a number of break away attempts each chased down by the teams of the sprinters.  This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  The work, and the race, will be included in my soon to be self published art of cycling book, "Book de Tour."  To learn more about the book project, to pre order your copy, or to become part of bringing the book to print, please visit  kickstarter.com/projects/13350
