Tour, Stage 14: Helping His Brother Out

The last road stage it was Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) spreading his arms wide in victory.  He is a good bit down on the general classification than his twin brother Adam, so it fell to him to drop back and try and pace the leader of Mitchelton-Scott back into the peloton.  The aggressive pace being set on the way up the Col du Soulor had put many a man in difficulty.  It appears that the pace would be the end of Adam Yates' dreams of winning the Tour.  There is still the climb to the top of the Tourmalet to come in this stage!

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available though my website at www.greigleach.com, or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of this post.  Since it is an original it is first come first served.  The painting was created using Yarka St Petersburg watercolors from Richesonart.com. The work sells for $75 plus shipping. And yes, international shipping is available.

Tour, Stage 7: Toiling Up the Aspin

These three, Daryl Impey (Orica-BikeExchange), Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and David Navarro (Cofidis) were toiling up the Col d'Aspin after one man up the road.  The trio seemed unable to close the gap to Steve Cummings (Dimension Data) just as Nibali was unable to shake the other two off of his wheel.  It was becoming clear that the former winner of the Tour, had left to much energy on the roads of Italy on his way to winning the Giro d'Italia just forty days ago.  The stretch of road seemed to leave no place for fans to stand, so this looks just a bit forlorn.  Although not as forlorn as I suspect as Nibali's emotional state in being unable to claim the stage.

This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from Jack Richeson & Company.  This painting, along with all of my cycling art, is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  While you are on the site, be sure to check out my other works of art and my two cycling books.  To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  Bear in mind that this is a one of a kind original and once it is gone, it is gone.

Tour, Stage 7: Looking for the Others

The duo of Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo) and David Navarro (Cofidis) proved to fast going down hill for the rest of those in the break away.  Once they hit the valley below, Spartacus looked back over his shoulder to find out where they all had gone.  The streets were lined with the traditional plane trees and thousands of cheering fans welcoming the racers to the first stage in the  Pyrenees.  I am not quite sure why the current time trial champion of Switzerland is up in the front group unless it is to help his teammate Jasper Stuyven across the flatter roads in a bid to retake the Maillot a Pois.

Tour Stage 18: Preparing to Climb

Team Europcar, who have been racing with guts and aggression, put three men into the early break, most notably their darling of the French public, Thomas Voeckler.  Has the large break went through town before making the turn that let to the famed Col du Tourmalet, Voeckler dropped back to his team car to get one more bottle and energy gel for the climb.  The men in the Tour will burn over 6,000 calories on an average stage, and this stage with its two Haute Catagorie climbs was going to be anything but average.  This is a small original watercolor and ink painting is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com and will be included, along with all of my 2014 Tour de France paintings in my soon to be self published book, "Book de Tour."  To learn more about the book, to pre order your copy, or to discover how you can become involved in bringing the art of the Tour to print, please visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1335072134/book-de-tour.  There are some exciting incentives for those who choose to back the project starting for as little as $5 USD and at $25 USD, you will get an artist signed copy of the "Book de Tour".  Everyone who pledges their support will have their name in print included in the Special Thanks page of the book regardless of the amount pledged.  To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  But you know you want a copy of the book to go with the artwork, don't you?
