With the peloton breathing down their necks, Nicolas Edet (Cofidis) and Alexandre Pichot (Europcar) accept that their bold attempt was doomed. Edet reached behind him to shake the hand of Pichot, thanking him for the shared effort of the break. You should realize that these guys spend quite a bit of time together, day in and day out throughout the racing season. Riders develop friendships in the peloton and in the break, whether on the same team or not. And of course, many have ridden in the same kit in the past. At this level of ability most everyone knows, or knows of, each other. Another reason to reach back and thank the guy who helped you stay out in front for so long. This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.
