In an individual time trial, each rider leaves the start gate in one minute intervals, so it is unusual for one rider to catch the man ahead of him on the road. However, when the man on the bike is Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing) even the former World Road Racing Champion, Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida) can't keep from being caught. With the time that Rohan Dennis had posted, the only man who still had a realistic chance of taking over the lead was Spartacus (Cancellara's nick name in the peloton). But even the man who was once accused of hiding a motor in his bike couldn't take the lead from the Australian Dennis.
