From the drop of the flag that got the Queen stage of the Tour Down Under underway, it was Will Clarke (Cannondale-Drapac) who went on the attack. Perhaps he wanted to counter his bad luck from yesterday's stage. Bridging across to the Australian was Julien Berard (Ag2r La Mondiale). The duo were hoping to establish the break away that would leave the peloton behind.
