With the leading group down to two it was time for Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Victorious) and Tom Devriendt (Intermache Wanty-Gobert Materiaux) to have a strategy debate. They knew that at least one rider was coming across, but a 30 second gap was a bit too long to wait for. It seemed like their best decision was going to be, "keep going!" At this point they were still in a strong position to win the 119th edition of Paris Roubaix.
