Mainly due to the efforts of Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Victorious) the early break was still maintaining their two minute advantage over the peloton, despite having lost one member of their escape group. As they crossed the Warlaing a Brillon section of pave, Tom Devriendt (Intermache Wanty-Gobert Materiaux) was stuck on the Slovenian's wheel but a small gap was opening between Devriendt and Laurent Pichon (Arkea-Samsic). They have maintained the same time gap for the last twenty kilometers and four section of the famed pave's of Paris Roubaix.
