Tour '25, Stage 6: Is It Established?

After multiple attempts to get a breakaway started it looks like it may have finally formed.  As they flew down the first categorized climb of the day it was Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek) in his USA National Champion jersey pushing the pace to increase the gap from its current forty-five seconds.  He was joined by his countryman Will Barta (Movistar) and the erstwhile Maillot Jaune, Mathieu Van Der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck).  Both the parcours of the stage and the composition of this five-man group meant this could be a stage winning move.  It really does all depend on how the battle for the general classification plays out in the peloton behind.

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The work sells for $99 USD including shipping, but, yes, international shipping is both available and extra.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Men’s Race: No One Chased

Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) was the third of his teammates to attack the other three in the break away.  Whether it was that the other two attacks had tired the others in the break or whether it was that they didn’t quite recognize the American as a big threat to go solo for nineteen kilometers, no one chased Jorgenson.  He quickly build up thirteen seconds on his erstwhile companions and another thirty-five seconds to the closing peloton. Whatever the reason it was great to see him off the front in his new team’s colors.  Unfortunately for him the remaining kilometers contained two of the hardest climbs of the entire 202 kilometers of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

2014 UCI Worlds: Leading Them All Around

Showing the evidence of having hit the ground in the big crash, American Alison Powers, put in a hard solo attack.  She most likely was hoping to establish a small group off the front that her teammates could later use as a bridge to gain time on the big rivals.  On each lap of the course in Ponferrada, the rides had an area were their team soigeurs could hand their riders bottles, gels and food.  It takes some skill to hand sustenance to a cyclist moving at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.  This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
