Rio Olympics: For the Judges

Erika Fasana (Italy) took her final pose as the Italian opera music faded in the hall.  Fasana had just completed her floor exercise routine and held this pose as the judges looked on as though they were disgruntled.  I am not sure why they seemed like they had sour milk under their noses, but their scores reflected their apparent mood.  I thought that Fasana moved with grace, certainly one of the best dancers of the competition.  But then the tumbling is where the points are.

Rio Olympics: Perfect into Green

My neighbor had made a remark about needing a lot of green to paint the diving events, at the time I hadn't a clue what he meant.  Now I do.  Something had gone wrong with the filter system for both of the outdoor water pools, but now the diving pool is almost back to a bright blue.  The coloring of the venue, Tania Cagnotto's (Italy) swimsuit and the water almost created this painting for me.  Cagnotto claimed her first individual Olympic medal after her third visit to the Games.  She very proudly now has a Bronze Medal.

Rio Olympics: Coming Home Fast!

The wet roads didn't slow down anyone, including Elisa Longo Borghini (Italy).  She came storming into the final meters of the Women's Time Trial course, pushing all of the way to the line.  Longo Borghini managed to finish fifth on the day, but she did spend some time in the hot seats before going off to get a warm shower.

Rio Olympics: Together

The definition of determination is when you keep coming up just short and still keep trying.  For Tania Cagnotto (Italy) who finally has an Olympic metal, something that has alluded her for years.  She was joined in the effort by her teammate, Francesca Dallape.

With everyone back in at least the front group.  It was time to go up the final climb of the Olympic road race.  Leading the way is the Jakob Fuglsang (Denmark) who usually rides in support of the man behind him, Vincenzo Nibali (Italy) although, not today.
