Having jumped away from the rest of the field on the way up with the Dutch woman A. Van Vleuten, the pair went over the top together. Mara Abbott (USA) was not as confident on the downhill side of the climb and Van Vleuten went off on her own. Sadly, the Dutch woman crashed on the way down, and it looked rather serious. Let's all pray she is okay! Abbott, now alone, and on her way to Gold, stayed save for the rest of the way down. At this point the race was playing out exactly as it had with the men the day before, including the crash. Sadly for Abbot, there were other similarities.
