The Women's Mountain Bike race was contested on dusty roads yesterday, but the rain overnight left the men racing on slippery muddy roads. Literally slipping off the front was the Swiss rider, Nino Schurter with the Czech, Jaroslav Kulhavy chasing him through the rock strewn woods, splattering mud on themselves as they go. The duo had contested for the Gold Medal in London four years ago, and it looks like they would repeat the effort in Rio.
