Rio Olympics: An Early Lead

It is always amusing to listen to the announcers opine that a particular athlete doesn't have a chance to succeed at the very thing he is succeeding at.  Those calling the Men's Single Scull race were sure that Damir Martin (Croatia) would fad to obscurity as the 2,000 meter race continued.  Instead the Croat was virtually tied with the New Zealander defending his Gold Medal.  Ultimately the race went to the photo finish, showing that Martin had finished second by about an inch.  So it was a brilliant race that while not a complete upset, but still a surprising finale.  Well done, Damir!

This is a small watercolors and ink painting measuring just 4"x6" and was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com.  This painting and all of my Olympics artwork will be available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
