Tour de France 23, Stage 6: Fliming the Favorites

It takes quite an operation to get all of the shots of the Tour de France that tell us this exciting story.  This shows us two of the ways that is done.  We can see the cameraman on the back of the motorcycle filming Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) glued to the rear wheel of his primary rival, Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) who in turned is tucked in behind his teammate, Wout Van Aert.  Just peeking into the frame is the Maillot a Pois Virtuale, Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost).  This quartet had just another eleven kilometers to climb up the Cauterets Cambasque and the end of the stage.  Will they simply ride together to summit, or is somebody going to attack the other?

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The painting was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.Richesonart.com. The work sells for $95 USD including shipping, but yes international shipping is both available and extra.

Tour '22, Stage 6: Camera Worthy

It takes quite an effort to ride away from the peloton while wearing the Yellow Jersey, yet that is exactly what Wout Van Aert has done for the second time in this Tour.  It may be even more of a challenge to get us the great footage of the race, but here is one of the TV Moto cameramen doing just that.  I can't imagine standing on the back of a motorcycle, let alone holding a TV camera while I do it.  Let alone, getting a well composed steady image of a rider pedaling along at over 40 kph.  Chapeau!  Alas, this is probably the last time Van Aert will be in Yellow on TV this year, but he had a great run of 5 days as race leader.  Yeah, sorry, this gamble didn't pay off for Jumbo-Visma, but it definitely made for good TV.

Gent-Wevelgem: Up & Over

The wide open flat roads of Belgium are broken up by short, brutally steep bergs.  The final of nine climbs on the course was the Kennelberg with sections of 28 percent gradient.  Jurgen Roelandts (Lotto Soudal) actually managed to increase his gap on the six man group of chasers behind as he scaled the cobblestone wall past the cheering fans.

This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that is available through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  To purchase this particular painting for only $50 USD, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.  And yes, international shipping is available.

Tour Stage Eighteen: For Team, Stage and Country

As in the first trip up Alpe d'Huez, Riblon was dropped by Van Garderen on the steeper parts of the climb, but I think he found comfort in knowing that he had got the BMC man at the top on the first climb and was confident that he could repeat that feet.  Riding with the hopes of every Frenchman along the road and throughout the country he did catch TeJay just before the red kite of one K to go.  Buoyed by the dreams of his country winning a stage in their 100th Tour of their homeland, he jumped right by his adversary and rode the air of French faith to the top of the mountain.  He was aware enough to tell his team director to move so he could take the inside corner of the coming turn.  France now has their first victory in the 100th Tour de France, the USA is still looking for theirs.  And for the record, AG2R is a French team as well.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours by visiting my artist website where you can purchase this painting.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your art of the 100th Tour de France.

Giro Day Twelve: Filming the Break

Another stage another break away, this one was large and had virtually every team in it and since their was no one in the break threatening the GC standings, off they were allowed to go.  Also you can see how the amazing video footage is captured.  The cameraman is standing on the back of a motorcycle holding the camera and facing backwards, he needs complete trust in his driver.  The red car is the race referee, who will always be right behind the leader of the stage.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours by visiting my artist web site, but go quickly, you wouldn't want some one else to get your painting.   Just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
