The former hour record holder, Rohan Dennis (Australia) tried hard to be a factor today, but from the very first time check he was losing time against not only the eventual winner, Tony Martin (Germany) but also to the early leader, Ryan Mullins (Ireland). Dennis has had some tough luck in these international competitions. In Richmond last year he had a bike change during the ITT, costing him a chance to medal, and again in the Rio Olympics his handle bar broke requiring another bike change. Today, it was his legs, and perhaps the heat, that interfered with his aspirations. He did manage a top ten finish, claiming sixth on the tally board.
