Olympic Gold Medalist Anna Van Der Breggen (Netherlands) was hoping to add a Rainbow Jersey to her trophy cabinet for 2016. Van Der Breggen was pushing herself, cutting corners as tight as possible in hopes of staying close to the time of race leader, Amber Neben (USA). I was struck by the matching colors of her skin suit and the covers over the hay bales that were place to protect riders should they crash. I do wonder what was in the crash pads, I image it would be difficult to get bales of hay to the edge of the desert. This Dutch cyclist didn't have the race she had hoped for finishing the day in 13th place.
