Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands), the penultimate rider on the road was already chasing the times of several riders as he hit the first time check out on course. Like Tony Martin the year before, Dumoulin suffered a broken bone in a crash in the Tour de France prior to coming to the Worlds. And like Martin's efforts in 2015, Dumoulin had a disappointing finish today. The Dutchman only manage an eleventh place on the day.
