With her teammates covering any moves to try and chase her down, Chantal Blaak (Netherlands) was tearing around the final kilometers of the course in Bergen. Team Netherlands had set up the finale perfectly, with three of seven in the group off the front, they could use their numbers to set up a win for their country. Behind Blaak her teammates, Anna Van Der Breggan and Annemiek Van Vleutin had a silver and gold medal between them, so they could help their teammate get a gold medal for themselves. If they played it just right, the team could sweep the medals down by the harbor. They didn't but they did put three riders in the top ten.
