Sylvain Chavanel got to race today in the tricolor jersey of the French Champion in the Time Trial discipline and laid out a blistering ride to the delight of the French home crowd. When he crossed the line he had second place with about a dozen yet to finish. Ultimately he was in for the seventh best time at the end of the day, so he was one of the few that were not drastically damaged by the quality of ride put in by the Yellow Jersey.
