Tour Stage Eleven: St. Michelle's Kite

With the possible exception of the Champs Elysees in Paris this has to be the most beautiful grand finishing stretches I have ever seen in the Tour de France.  Ile de St. Michelle is an abbey out in the tidal bay of the English Channel that when first built was only reachable at low tide.  As the tourist trade has increased over the centuries  a causeway has been built to allow access to the island and the abbey regardless of the tide.  The time trial ended at the veritable gates of the abbey on the causeway under the shadow of the wall island, good thing they had time this out right so that the tide was out for the complete running of the TT.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that can be yours in a short 3 day auction on ebay.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to bid on you piece of the 100th Tour de France.
