Tour: Rest Day

After nine hard days of racing, with the jersey changing hands, crashes, breakaways, heartbreak and elation, the riders get a day off to lick their wounds and regroup.  This rest day also included a long flight for the riders from the Pyrenees to Brittany. While the mileage was the same the trip was a lot longer for the journalist, race staff and all of the support personnel who had to drive the length of France to be ready to go on Tuesday.  While they call it a rest day, the peloton will be riding some 50 miles to keep their legs from freezing up, talking with the press and doing laundry.  And I will be able to catch up on all of the things I have had to let go while working on this wonderful endeavor.

So chapeau to the entire Tour enjoy a less hectic pace today, and I will see you all with brush in hand tomorrow.
