I picked this moment to paint for aesthetic reasons. I love the French flag interpretation on the deck of Dennis Garaud Chanut's (France) canoe. Although it looks more like a canoe, so I think it has more to do with the canoe paddle than the boat itself. The blue and red polka dots on the white jersey, set against the red and white striped gate cinched the choice for me. And then it turns out that Garaud Chanut was on a Gold Medal run! Chapeau!
This is a small watercolors and ink painting measuring just 4"x6" and was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com.
