Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) managed to put himself into the early break of the day. More importantly, he got himself over the first big climb of the day, the Col de Vars, first. He added to his now fifteen days in the King of the Mountain Maillot a Pois, lead. But he is facing two HC catagory climbs on the back side of the stage. It is expected that a number of jersey should change hands today, most notably this one and the Maillot Jaune. But then, that is why we race the race, anything can happen.
