True to their promise for this season, Ineos-Grenadiers was racing a very agressive Liege-Bastogne-Liege. After driving the pace over the final climb with several of their team members launching small attacks, it was Richard Carapaz who made his move stick. The Ecuadorian was able to build almost thirty seconds on the peloton in the final twenty kilometers, but those behind weren't about to let a sole rider go to the line alone.
