On the penultimate trip up the Cauberg it was Annemiek Van Vleutin (Movistar) giving it a go on the front of the peloton. She has been able to use these short steep climbs to get away in the past, so no one was letting her go this time. It was a treat to see the Stars and Stripes of the USA National Champion Ruth Winder (Trek-Segafredo) at the head of affairs today. One must root for one's own country women.
