Stage 10 was nothing but climb after climb the first coming just thirteen kilometers into the stage. After the Cote de Berzet Raul Garcia Pierna (Arkea-B&B Hotels) had to use the descent to chase back onto the breakaway. He was successful in the effort as he went by the last vehicle in the following caravan that was followed by the flotilla of motorcycles and other race officials and team cars. With seventy-three kilometers to go, it was likely he will be dropped yet again, but still, one must try.
