Giro Stage 12: Filming the Breakaway

Today's break away can hardly be called the early break, it didn't establish itself until 80 of the 190 kilometers had been covered.  I am truly impressed with the work of the cameramen on the TV Motos.  These guys combine and artistic eye, a knowledge of what is the important parts of the stage, and an incredible sense of balance.  They will frequently stand on the back of the bikes while descending off the mountains at speeds hitting 80 kilometers per hour.  Often times, they are looking backwards trusting their drivers to handle the road ahead.  Some of the riders off the front before the lumpy finish of the stage included, Enrico Barbin (Bardiani CSF), Kenny Elissonde (FDJ), Patrick Gretsch (AG2R) and Davide Appollonio (Androni Giocattoli).

This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from the American family run art supply company, Jack Richeson & Company, www.richesonart.com.  This painting is available for purchase through my artist website for the low price of $50 USD, plus shipping (including international shipping).  To buy this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
