Fabio Aru (Astana), wearing the Maglia Blanco of the best placed young rider, put his team on the front of the greatly reduced peloton is hopes of trading his White Jersey for a Pink one. With six kilometers left to the summit finish, Astana had already rid the peloton of most of Richie Porte's (Sky) team along with the teams of Alberto Contador (Tinkoff Saxo) and Rigoberto Uran (Etixx Quickstep. Aru is only 4 seconds off of the lead, a margin that can be made up with time bonuses alone. Uran, however is trailing the Spaniard by almost a minute and a half due to one bad day on the first hill top finish of the 98th Giro d'Italia.
This is a small original watercolor and ink painting that was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from Jack Richeson and Company, www.richesonart.com. They are a lovely small family run art supply company that has some of my favorite media. The painting is also available for purchase through my artist website at www.greigleach.com. To purchase this particular painting, just follow the direct link at the end of this post. But don't delay, these are original one of a kind paintings and when it is gone, it is gone.
