These three, Kanstanstin Siutsu (Sky), Giovanni Visconti (Movistar) and Hubert Dupont (AG2R) slipped off the front of the dimished break away and set about the second climb of the day up the Passo Daone. The trio had gotten annoyed with Sergio Palinho (Tinkoff Saxo) and Diego Rosa (Astana) sitting on, not contributing to the effort of escaping the peloton. Giovanni now has to try and grab the maximum King of the Mountains points to help defend his teammate, Benat Intxuasti's lead in the KOM competition. Siutsu is hoping to redeem the aspirations of his team with the collapse of their leader, Richie Porte. However, only Team Sky would be moaning about how bad their Grand Tour is going when they have won two stages and have a man in the top ten overall.
