Tiesj Benoot (DSM) dropped back of the tail of the peloton to visit the doctor. I am not aware that there were any crashes during the stage, but I do know that he had fell victim to at least one of the many crashed in earlier stages. Perhaps he felt his bandage wasn't staying on well enough. It was clear that the rolling doctor's visit was about redressing his wounded elbow. I stand in awe of what the riders (men and women) can handle pain wise and still keep competing in such a truly difficult event.
