Ineos-Grenadiers has been plagued by bad luck in this year's Tour. They came with at least three guys who could win the 108th Tour de France, but one by one, misfortune made their dreams die on the vine. However, Richard Carapaz (Ineos-Grenadiers) was the only one who seemed to escape the bad luck of his teammates. With second and third place up the road and one of the GC contenders dropping off the back, he Equadorian decided it was time to go on the offensive. While he gained about forty seconds on his primary rivals, he still lost time on the current Maillot Jaune and the guy sitting third overall. Nevertheless, this is a race of incremental gains, so chapeau to his efforts.
