Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) jumped his erstwhile breakaway companions with another fifty kilometers to race. As he opened up a gap to the other six he left behind, he peered over his shoulder to see if he had truly left them all behind. His team lost their contender for the overall victory even before the Tour started due to illness. So, they only can hope for stage wins to make their Tour a success. Their team owner pointed out that the sponsors would be much happier with stage victories than managing to get someone into the top ten in the final general classification.
